Please follow the checklist below to begin your flight training:

FAA Medical Certificate

Obtain an FAA Medical Certificate through a local FAA Designated Medical Examiner. A list of medical examiners can be found on the FAA website (enter your location, and search for DME)

Non-US Citizens

NON-US CITIZENS must complete an application with the TSA to be authorized to begin flight training, Please note, this process may take as long as 60 days to complete. Let’s Fly Jax must receive TSA authorization prior to starting any flight or ground training, as well as when starting a new course with a previous student. For more information, visit www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/home Complete a new client checklist. Let’s Fly Jax needs you to bring in the following documentation: Original US birth certificate or US valid/unexpired passport US issued driver’s license Medical Certificate, Credit Card

After enrollment, you will be scheduled for your first lesson. You will be assigned a primary instructor, who will be your main point of contact throughout your training.

Training Materials

The following materials are needed for your private pilot flight training. They are not needed prior to your first lesson, but are required to complete your training. Textbooks: Gleim or Jeppesen Guided Flight Discovery Part 61 Kit. These are available in the pilot shop at Let’s Fly Jax, as well as online through various retailers. FAR/AIM for the current year (available in the pilot shop, or for purchase Airplane Flying Handbook (printed copy or PDF from the FAA) Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (printed copy or PDF from the FAA) Headset: David Clark, Lightspeed Zulu, Bose or Sigtronics headset required. Available at Let’s Fly Jax Pilot Shop. headset rental- $5.00/lesson

I-PAD-Not required or necessary for most of private pilot training. However, a GPS enabled iPad or iPad mini may be useful with certain software for flight training.

ForeFlight App: Not required or necessary for most of private pilot training. Available only on Apple devices through the App Store. Subscription based app with charts and navigation tools. Local resources for available for download at www.LetsFlyjax.com.
