Instrument Rating

INSTRUMENT RATING

The Instrument Rating is your next step in your flight training. The Instrument rating not only allows you to fly in the clouds but makes you a safer pilot through gaining additional knowledge. Like the Private Pilot Program its as simple as 1, 2, 3.

OUR PROGRAM

  1. We implement a 3 Stage Program to help you get your Instrument Rating.
    1. Learn the Basics – Your dedicated Flight Instructor and you will expand upon your basic knowledge of the Flight Instruments and flying into IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions). We utilize our Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Device to teach you all the basic skills first before you go practicing in the airplane. This allows for you to gain a lot of experience flying in the clouds regardless of the weather outside. It also helps to reduce the costs of training.
    2. An Instrument what? – The next phase of training teaches you all the components of flying into the clouds on a daily basis and how to navigate safely through the Air Traffic Control System. You and your instructor will practice various Departure, Arrival, Holding and Approach Procedures. It seems tough but don’t worry you’ll be a pro in no time and can practice them in the simulator over and over again.
  2. Lets go on a Trip – This final stage takes you further then you probably have ever been before in a small airplane. You will get to fly over 100 NM from your departure point all while navigated using only your instrument panel. After additional review and reviewing your meteorologist skills you’ll be taking another Practical Test and building your skill level in no time.

IS THE INSTRUMENT RATING REALLY THAT IMPORTANT?

Yes, One of the most common questions about the Instrument Rating is why should I get this?

The Instrument Rating teaches you how to get yourself out of unwanted weather and trouble. Some of the most unfortunate accidents occur when a pilot gets themselves in over their head and their abilities. An instrument rating will help you keep yourself safe when unexpected clouds come to join your flight.
